We are thrilled to present Andria Dolidze and Keta Gavasheli´s first joint solo exhibition Dull Hum which reflect their many years of collaboration. Both artists work are multi-layered and require a subtle search for clues.
The recurring motif of the opening is present in Keta Gavasheli’s work in the form of holes, cracks, and fissures and constantly confronts the viewer with the unknown. Recorded on tapes, the artist mixes these recordings with sounds from the public and private spheres of her life.
Tapes are an attempt to archive sound in its entirety, they are collaged memories, they merge into a common, constant hum in the gallery spaces – Dull Hum.
In Andria Dolidze’s work, the connection between body and space is particularly palpable. With the folds in Dolidzes’ paintings, cities fan out before you. Following the lines, you come across intersections that mark public squares, some are located just a few meters outside the gallery. City grids overlap. Wandering through past and present, the artist collects elements from urban spaces that reappear here - Düsseldorf and Tbilisi merge.
Occasionally, fragments of words from used banners refer to messages. Terms emerge and elude all categorization, both geographical and contextual and they merge into new compositions.
For the first solo exhibition with the gallery Andria Dolidze and Keta Gavasheli are showing a group of new works.
